WHAT DOES THE BARNES COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY/MUSEUM DO?

The Barnes County Historical Society/Museum collects and preserve the historical records of Barnes County area, its history, heritage, cultural and economic development.

We collect and display artifacts of local, regional and national interest.  Also the history of Barnes county area people, families, and communities are researched and maintained for the historical record.

The Barnes County Historical Society educates through lecture series, tours, display of artifacts, collection and records of local, regional and national interest.

Affiliates and collaborates with partner organizations including:  The Smithsonian, North Dakota Historical Society, North Dakota Humanities Council, North Dakota Council on the Arts, National Scenic Byways, Preservation North Dakota, other county museums, Valley City Chamber of Commerce, Valley City State University, Medicine Wheel Park, Bridges Arts Council, Litchville and Wimbledon Museums, United States Geological Survey, and other local and regional organizations that help us fulfill our mission to serve the Barnes County area.
